Pregnancy is such a wonderful time in a woman’s life.

HA!  Every woman who has said that has either not been pregnant or is too old to remember what it is like.
About 50 % of pregnant woman get hemorrhoids.  Why?

Well, I’ll tell you why.

Pregnant women gain weight quickly in their lower abdomen and this puts a lot of pressure on the rectum.
Also, a pregnant woman has a huge increase in blood that is helping her baby grow and this blood puts pressure on her veins, causing them to enlarge.

Pregnancy hemorrhoids can be very aggravating because a pregnant woman is already uncomfortable enough already without the itchy butt factor.  Another reason for hemorrhoids during pregnancy, on top of the aforementioned reasons pregnant women get hemorrhoids, is because of constipation.
Constipation
means you feel the need to have a bowel movement but it just doesn’t come out and this causes people to sit on the toilet and strain.  Straining and pushing hard causes pressure, which, in turn, makes a hemorrhoid.

Some Hemorrhoid Relief Ideas

If you are experiencing pregnancy hemorrhoids you can take a warm, soapy bath to alleviate the itching and burning.  Be very careful not to slip in the slippery tub soap.

Taking a walk is also extremely beneficial because it gets your blood flowing smoothly instead of slogging in your veins and putting pressure in sensitive areas.

If you are pregnant, have hemorrhoids and ordered to bed rest the best thing you can do is talk to your doctor about using witch hazel on the affected area and ice packs.

The good news is that hemorrhoids go away with your pregnancy!  Once that little baby comes toward the light means you have also reached the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck!
